If you have no idea what I’m talking about, I wrote a book about the history of tarot and made my own tarot deck featuring some endangered, some thriving creatures from around the world. This has been a labor of love starting in February 2023 with the formidable shrike. These are little songbirds that impale excess prey onto barbed wire or thorns and I thought that this creature would make the best Death card in a tarot deck. Then I realized I actually knew nothing about the origins of tarot and started the journey. The artist book version is very pricey, as it should be because a lot of work went into it and it’s a piece of art, but I heard loud and clear that I needed to make an economical version. It was important to keep this process handmade so that’s why I didn’t do a digitally printed version which would have been cheaper BUT people can see/feel the difference of a risograph print and a digital print.
