The Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm
Fine Binding | This book shows two sides of butterfly wings; one side is flowing with cleaner lines while the other is more jagged and rough. I did this because the brothers have such sweet tales at the beginning of each story, but then they usually take a sinister turn.
The book is very heavy, and I wanted to add weight by including brass in my design because of the heftiness of the Grimm stories. In contrast to the weight I wanted a delicate element to the cover, so I burned in drawings with hidden animals and objects. This also comments on how diverse all the stories within are.
